# Macro guide for ADC First, [[Prepare your game plan for the laning phase before the game starts]]. With a ranged support, keep a wave advantage: your opponent will have a harder time aggressing them as they will take damage from the minions and your support will land their skill shots more easily with fewer enemy minions in the way. With a melee support, keep your wave close to your tower and the minions at even strength. It gives your support more opportunities to engage and encourages ganks from your jungler. See also [[Basics of trading as ADC]]. In the midgame, minimise risks and stay alive. As an ADC, you should naturally become richer than other champions because you farm faster than them (see [[Farming is your most important source of income]]). Dying just once could cause you to become significantly underleveled and much squishier. If that happens and you get behind, do not make the mistake to itemise defensively; on the contrary, focus on offensive items (see [[The best offense is a good defense, and vice versa]]). Once you have taken down the first bot tower, rotate with you toplaner to take the top tower, then go mid and take the mid tower. If your teammates tend to group mid, go on a side lane to farm solo. If a fight breaks out without you, you usually want to keep pushing as fast as possible; if you choose to go help, either only a few teammates will be alive by the time you arrive and you might die because no one can peel for you, or the fight is already over and you will have wasted time (see [[The mirror rule]]) About objectives, the first rift herald will usually be claimed while you are in botlane. The second one offers much less value since tower plates will have disappeared and it gives a lot of gold and experience to the enemy champion that kills it. For towers, it is usually a better choice for you to go and take a massive wave than to defend a tower since funneling gold to you alone is more efficient than the enemy sharing tower gold. For dragons and baron, since your whole team will be there with you, you should take part in the fight to contest it as this is where you can truly shine. In early game though, do not forget that [[Dragon is overrated]].
