# Saving information alleviates cognitive workload
According to an experiment performed at UC Santa Cruz, **==saving information decreases proactive inhibition by allevating cognitive workload==**. College students were asked to study two files A and B. When they could trust that file A would be reliably saved before studying file B, they recalled more information on file B during testing.
