# Stories are rings centered around a midpoint
Stories are often described as linear, but we can also see them as circles where the initial situation and the aftermath are almost connected, differing only by a key element. The first part of the story is about exploring the problem, and the second part about exploring the solution. What separates both parts is the midpoint: the moment in the story when the main character has to change their point of view of the world.
