# Main Mysteries
- Who sent the message bottle?
- It was picked up by a fisherman on Shikinejima and contained scarps of paper signed by "Ushiromiya Maria", but the handwriting is that of a different person, who is thought to be more skilled at writing and older than Maria.
- A second message bottle has been recovered by the police, with the same handwriting.
- Probably, both message bottles correspond to EP1 and EP2 respectively.
- Ange: "\[I\]t's probably more realistic that this diary was written slowly over a long period of time, up until the day prior to the accident."
- Ange: "If the writer of that diary was the culprit… Maybe Aunt Eva was also one of the targets to be killed. Maybe Aunt Eva survived because _something went wrong_."
- The handwriting of the messages is the same as that of the paragraph on Maria's diary that says: "To my beloved witch apprentice" and is signed "Beatrice" in katakana.
- Why does Ange go to Rokkenjima again?
- She says: "It was a journey… to apologize to Maria onee-chan for what happened that day."
- Ange believes that _because_ she hurt Maria by saying that magic doesn't exist, the Rokkenjima incident occurred.
- Who gave Maria the umbrella?
- Rosa claims that Maria told her that it was Kinzo, but it is impossible.
- Apparently, Maria's exact words were: "Grandfather came and handed me the umbrella."
- Either Rosa lied or Maria did. In the second case, it could have been any of the servants giving her the letter with "magic" and saying it was Kinzo.
- Who is the Kinzo who appears during the conference?
- Given that there are only 17 people on the island, this scene must be fictional. It could be interpreted as the discussion between the siblings, or maybe Kinzo's will being read by Genji, for instance.
- Who committed the murders of the first twilight (Eva, Rudolf, Rosa, Natsuhi, Hideyoshi, Genji)?
- There is no evidence they died at that moment since Battler was in the guesthouse.
- How were Krauss, Kyrie, Nanjo, Kanon and Shannon moved to their prison cell?
- There's no evidence that they were moved there without Battler's witnessing it.
- Interestingly, Shannon says to Kanon that it is unusual that they both survive the first twilight together. Are they aware that the game repeats itself?
- She also says that "The Golden Land is very calm, peaceful, and everything is fair and equal… But actually, happiness alone is left out."
- What could she possibly mean by this? It only makes me think of death.
- Who sent the letters to the relatives of the victims?
- The stamps were postmarked on October 3rd, i.e., before the incident, and contain a magnetic card, a key and a letter with 07151129 and the name of a bank and "Central Branch".
- 07151129 is apparently the PIN to the card.
- The key opens a safe at the bank.
- Nanjo Masayuki's key is labeled A112, Kumasawa's son's is A113. Ange also received a similar letter.
- The safes all contain $100m.
- The letters' handwriting is the same as BEATRICE's.
- Ange finds a photo in Kumasawa's son's house, with English words engraved on the arch above a Western-style door: "This door will only open with a probability of 1/1,000,000,000,000. You will only be blessed with a probability of 1/1,000,000,000,000."
- This is probably the chapel's door.
- What did Ange see in Captain Kawabata's house?
- Frankly, I have no idea. [The scene was pretty emotional though](https://lparchive.org/Umineko-no-Naku-Koro-ni/Update%20131/). Could it be that it was the original Sakutarou?
- Who killed George and Jessica?
- Could be anyone. Battler only witnesses George before seeing BEATRICE, by the way.
- Who killed Kanon, Shannon, Nanjo, Krauss and Kyrie?
- Could be anyone. BEATRICE claims that <span style="color: ff0000">Kanon is dead. Among the five people in Kyrie's group, he was the first to die. In short, he was the 9th victim.</span>
- Who is the BEATRICE that speaks to Battler?
- I really have no idea for that one. The narration states that "it was the voice of a woman he didn't know."
- Technically, it could be Kanon or Shannon disguising themselves and altering their voices.
- What is Battler's sin?
- I suspect that it has to do with magic… **==Maybe Battler was also invited to join Marriage Sorcière and he refused?==**
- Why does the piece BEATRICE leave when Battler fails to remember his sin?
- Not sure about that one.
- The narration states that: "The witch who had questioned Battler hid herself, and the other witch, who had appeared from behind, remained. She certainly was identical, the same witch, but her expression was somehow indifferent and ice-cold, completely removed from the one who, despite seeming drunk up until then, had been in high spirits."
- What is the deal between Asumu and Battler?
- Meta-Battler is able to say in red that <span style="color: ff0000">"Ushiromiya Battler's mother is Ushiromiya Asumu"</span> and <span style="color: ff0000">"My name is Ushiromiya Battler"</span>, but he is unable to repeat in red that "it was from Ushiromiya Asumu that I was born".
- BEATRICE even asserts in red that <span style="color: ff0000">"You are not Ushiromiya Asumu's son."</span>
- Whose son is Battler, then? That's a damn good question. Could he really be the child Kinzo gave Natsuhi (see [[Umineko EP 5 - End of the Golden Witch]])?
- Kawabata mentions that around 1968, all trips to and from Kuwadorian and the hidden harbor on Rokkenjima stopped. Also, Eva was found in Kuwadorian.
- As Kasumi reads Maria's journal, she finds "Magic to always be friends with Mama who I love": "Uu-uu."
- Ange regained the ability to use "true magic" on Rokkenjima, against Kasumi, according to the narration.
- How did Ange revive Sakutarou?
- BEATRICE claims that <span style="color: ff0000">This is my Golden Land!! A world where magic that isn't mine certainly cannot exist!!</span> And my <span style="color: ff0000">magic was not able to revive Sakutarou</span>
- I'm guessing Ange presented the repaired Sakutarou she found in Kawabata's house to Maria? That actually makes a lot of sense.
- Who killed Maria?
- No idea.
- Who killed Gohda and Kumasawa?
- The gardening shed is a closed room so I'm having trouble solving it… The only explanation, outside of the existence of another key, would be a double murder or a murder and a suicide, but Battler would have found a gun… Then again, Gohda or Kumasawa could have attached the gun to a string to the outside through the open window.
- Who killed Battler?
- BEATRICE declares <span style="color: ff0000">Ushiromiya Battler. I will now…kill you. And right now, there is no one other than you on this island. The only one alive on this island is you. Nothing outside the island can interfere. You are all alone on this island. And of course, I am not you. Yet I am here, now, and am about to kill you.</span>
- The only remaining explanation is a suicide… Actually, what if Battler has a personality disorder? And BEATRICE is his second personality? Does it count as the detective? That sounds a bit too far-fetched though.
# Who, How, and Why
- Who: ???
- At some point, everybody is dead except Battler, so it must mean the culprit committed suicide at some point? Or did Battler misdiagnose one of the victims?
- How: ???
- Why: ???
