What if the universe was an egg, made specially for me, in which I was to be incarnated as every living being that existed in the past, exists right now, and will ever exist? Although it pains me to admit it, I often find myself berating or mocking others in my head, for sometimes quite petty reasons. By implying that I am actually mocking myself, the Egg metaphor forces me to imagine how I could turn out like someone else, hence chasing those negative thoughts out of my consciousness and replacing them with compassion and kindness. What draws me to this idea is how it naturally brings out my empathy towards others. It emphasizes how much we all are a product of our circumstances and our environments. I strongly believe that empathy is a necessary component of a benevolent life; it enables us to understand people's faults without judging them. Understanding leads to kinship, and kinship leads to love. Love as in *agape*, the Greek term for universal and unconditional love. To the other me's who are reading this: take care of yourselves. You deserve it. --- ## 📚 References - Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell. [The Egg - A Short Story](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6fcK_fRYaI). 2019. YouTube.
