# Zettelkasten A Zettelkasten is a method of personal knowledge management. It consists in writing *atomic notes*, ie, notes which contain a unique and indivisible piece of knowledge, and linking them together, either directly or through the use of index notes, eg [[Map of content|Maps of content]]. It was notably used by German sociologist [Niklas Luhmann](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niklas_Luhmann). ## 🔍 See also - [[The Zettelkasten primes your knowledge for serendipity]] - [[Write ugly notes]]
